REBUILDING LIVES
Reclaim your
family history
We have thousands of records from the
1930s and 40s just waiting to be reclaimed
by Jewish refugees and their family
members. Every week, fascinating details
about people’s family history are uncovered
in our archives.
This treasure trove of documents, rediscovered in the
1980s, contains records such as names, school reports,
photos, registration slips, and details of the help received
by World Jewish Relief (then the Central British Fund
and its sub committees).
Our dedicated team of archives volunteers are
committed to returning these 昀椀les and we need your
help to spread the word. As Sharone Slavin, one of our
Archives Team said:
“It allows me to connect families with historic registration
cards and personal case 昀椀les - records they deserve to
know about. Each time I uncover a name or trace a
family’s journey, it feels like I’m helping someone reclaim
their history.
Some of these 昀椀les include photographs and deeply
personal stories. Some are heartbreaking, while others
offer moments of reconnection - sometimes even
revealing relatives that families never knew existed. I
love volunteering at World Jewish Relief because these
stories really matter. It’s my small way of helping those
that came before us, and ensuring their voices are never
forgotten.”
Over the last year, our Archives Team have responded
to 1,200 enquiries, helping to reunite survivors and their
families with their history.
We have thousands of registration slips and case 昀椀les,
including those for many of the Kindertransport children,
just waiting to be reclaimed. Please
enquire today on our website or let
someone know about this incredible
opportunity to 昀椀nd details about their
family history.
