REBUILDING LIVES
We know humanitarian aid funding is under stress across
the world as government priorities and public opinion
shifts. But our own commitment to live out our humanitarian ideals is not diminished. We put this into action in
March with our response to the catastrophic earthquake
in Myanmar.
As the head of an organisation that spends most of its
time responding to disasters, crises or con昀氀ict, it can be
tricky to 昀椀nd moments that are cause for celebration.
But I did want to take a moment to recognise our Patron
– His Majesty the King – who joined us on Holocaust
Memorial Day at the Jewish Community Centre in Krakow
– which World Jewish Relief founded, built, and continues
to support. This was an incredibly special day, where
the King, before attending commemorations to mark
the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and
Birkenau, spent time at the JCC talking to Survivors and
Ukrainian refugees, expressing his pride at the work of this
remarkable charity.
I know these are troubling times, so I wanted to take
the opportunity to thank you for your vital and ongoing
support. We hope for more peaceful times ahead.
Paul Anticoni
Chief Executive
A note from our Chair
In these very challenging times, I wanted to share some
happy news too. We feel enormous, collective, pride that
our Chief Executive, Paul Anticoni, has been awarded an
OBE for services to vulnerable people by our Patron, His
Majesty the King, in the King’s Birthday Honours List.
Paul leads our organisation with immense
professionalism, as well as with kindness, humour and
humility. This Honour recognises the immense passion
and dedication with which he has led World Jewish Relief,
always prioritising the hundreds of thousands of people
across the world who receive our support.
And it also re昀氀ects the continued generosity and
commitment of our amazing supporters, without whom –
he would be the 昀椀rst to say - none of our work would
be possible.
